Updated: Godaddy’s Indycar Rewards Free Domain Promotion a Hit!
Yesterday, GoDaddy.com has a promotion to promote it’s Danica Indycar Newsletter. If you signed up to receive it you got a free domain name at GoDaddy.com. Well it was a hit. Messages were posted in communities and forums across the Web and my the end of the day some people had registered more than 15 domains names for free. Keep in mind that the domain are free for one year and after that you have to renew them for the regular price at that time.
The promotion has since finished, you can still get some good discounts off of it though. In my opinion, this was a brillian marketing strategy for GoDaddy to get people to sign up for one of its marketing newsletters. It also helped spread its brand recognition.
Teri Dhooge - Vice President of Marketing for GoDaddy said the response to the promotion was extraordinary.

voted IndyCar’s most popular driver.”
For a while yesterday there were rumors circulating that GoDaddy might not honor these registrations. That is not the case, Dhooge said.
“Go Daddy will honor any domain registration that abides by the terms of service and legal agreements for the promotion,” she said.
Dhooge also said that GoDaddy is looking into having more promotions like this in the future.
“We are constantly reviewing and analyzing strategies for new marketing efforts,” she said.
I’ve been a fan of GoDaddy for a while now. They have 24/7 tech support and you’re always dealing with someone in America. There plenty of promotional codes out on the Web to get discounts on domain registration and their prices are great.
